Elder Dorothy Hemphill BrewtonElder Dorothy Hemphill Brewton, 72, of 528 Boiling Springs Highway, entered eternal rest Thursday, July 14th, in her home.

She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of the late Catherine Hemphill Willis and Joseph Martin, Sr.

Dorothy was a graduate of Granard High School and University of South Carolina Upstate. She was a retired Registered Nurse.

She was first married to Robert Lee “Bob” Ellis who preceded her in death. She later married Elder Robert Lee Brewton. A brother, Tommy Rosemond, also preceded her in death.

Elder Brewton was the Pastor of Mt. Ararat First Pentecostal Church of America, Inc., 125 Holly Hill Drive, Gaffney.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Judy Lott of the home; three grandchildren, Kevin, Terrian, and Christina, all of Gaffney; three brothers, Billy Hemphill (Ruby) and Donnie Willis (Teresa) of Gaffney., Bobby (Essie) Willis of Maryland; a sister, Betty Robinson (William) of Phoenix, AZ.; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m., in Mt. Ararat First Pentecostal Church of America, Inc. with Bishop A.E. Jones officiating. Interment will be in Gaffney Memorial Park.

She will be in state in the church Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Wife of Paul Good, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of Johnny Frank Byers and Mary Studyvance Byers.

She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, Class of 1983, and was a former employee of Burger King.

Willie was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by: her children, Franchesca Studyvance (Scott Conley) of Gaffney and Quenzetta Sarratt (Darrell Richburgh) of North Charleston, SC, Alisa Conley and Franchon Cunningham, reared in the home; 4 grandchildren, Marcus and Frantaysha Dewberry, Kwentasia and Delaina Richburg; 4 sisters, Mary Studyvance, Johnnie Woodson, Frances A. Byers, and Lillie Hughes (Russell), all of Gaffney; 4 brothers, James Byers (Ruby) of Gaffney, Warren Byers of Spartanburg, Melvin Harrison, Alvin Harrison (Rachel) of Boston, MA; aunts, Patricia Sarratt (Darwin) Rosa Studyvance (Furman), Shirley Dover (Charles), Annie Tate, Corrine McCoy, Barbara Littlejohn, Carrie Valentine, Parniece Hughes, Mary Nichols, Vergie Cord, and Liza Howell; uncles, James, Rolen, Billy, Larry, Paul, Donnie (Debra), and Ronnie; great-aunts, Helen Butler, Helen Camp, Billie Sue McFadden, Hazel Allen, and Daisy Logan; mother-in-law, Sarah Stuckes (Willie); sisters-in-law, Sallie Good and Kimberly Brown(Grady); brothers-in-law, Otha Nichols and Julius Good.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, July 23rd at 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Brother Earl Buckson officiating.

She may be viewed in The Gilmore Mortuary Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm.

Alexander “Bubbason” Gardner, Jr.

Mr. Alexander “Bubbason” Gardner, Jr., 80, of 711 Bramble Lane, Orangeburg, SC, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence.

Husband of Sarah Gardner, he was a former teacher and Assistant Football Coach at Granard High School in Gaffney during the 1960s.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg. The Reverend Gregory Young will officiate. Mr. Gardner will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Visitation is from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
